A Middle-aged Man Who Returned From Another World Becomes Unrivaled In The Apocalyptic World – Vol 1 – Chapter 17

Chapter 17

In conclusion, I could not find any survivors in the high school. I also looked at the rooftop to be sure, but there were only a few zombies standing there.

The curious thing was that there were signs of life on the rooftop, and one of the zombies there seems to be intact. After skipping the head, I rudely took off its clothes and looked at its body, but I couldn’t find any scars that looked like scars.

I wonder if I overlooked a head wound or something.

In order for a person to become a zombie, in a different world, they would basically have to receive a curse from a zombie. The curse will spread to the body and cause death or the body that received the curse will die and the curse will eventually spread, either order is fine but in any case, if you are not attacked by zombies you should not become a zombie.

The exception to this is that necromancers and other magicians can put their magical power into a corpse to manipulate it and make it undead.

By the way, the zombie curse does not affect you even if you are wounded, as long as you have enough magic power to counteract the curse. The same goes for the skill I had, “Disable Abnormalities”. If you are a priest or monk like Saint Iris, you can break the curse and heal it before you die, even if you don’t have them.

According to Kaede’s story, her mother, who had only been bitten on the arm, became a zombie within six hours or so, probably between night and morning. I think the curse is turning very fast.

The example video is still understandable assuming that the technology to send the curse was left aside and the syringe was filled with a poison that would cause instant death. The curse would turn quickly on a body that is dead and no longer resistant.

Is there a difference in the zombies, or is it that in the other world, the people in our world do not have the magic power that they had in their bodies, no matter how large or small, so they cannot resist and the curse turns faster.

Now that I thought about it more calmly, I could see that the zombies had been bitten and wounded not only on their bare skin but also on their clothes.

If the clothes were thin, they would still be thin, but there would also be thick leather jackets and other leather goods, probably due to the time of the pandemic. The fact that these clothes were also eaten through, I could only assume that it had something to do with magic power.

If you try to bite them off with your teeth, unless you’ve strengthened your body with magic power, it wouldn’t be surprising if all of your teeth fall out first with your original human specs. However, the zombies I know from other worlds have been slightly enhanced by the magic power emitted from the curse.

Also, the “Everlasting Battlefield” senses recognize these zombies as “undead”. If this is the case, it means that they are in fact already dead, and it is unlikely that they have some sort of virus. I don’t think it is possible to move the dead except by magic or curse.

But in any case, why was there an unharmed zombie on this rooftop?

Despite my doubts, I finished my search for Kaede’s high school and hurried to my next destination.

+++++

There was another school on the way to the city hall, so I dropped by to check it out, but the situation there was no different from the high school Kaede was supposed to attend.

All the shelters must have made fatal mistakes in their initial response. If even one person among the evacuees was bitten by a zombie, it was the end of them. According to Kaede, there were already too many zombies outside, and it would be difficult to escape from the shelter again. In this case, the city hall can not be expected.

“No?”

Just as I was about to run through the main street to arrive at the city hall. I quickly hid behind a nearby building.

There was a reaction to the gaze sensing. It’s not a zombie thing, it’s a reaction of the living.

Unlike presence sensing, gaze sensing and crisis sensing have a much wider range of effectiveness even with my meager magical power.

It’s more than spacious , but rather that it reacts when the vector of the gaze or crisis is directed at you, or when it reaches you.

“Did you see it…?”

In this darkness, it would be indistinguishable from any other zombie out there, but it made me somewhat uneasy. At the same time, I was relieved to see that there were still survivors.

My gaze should have been directed towards the city hall where I was currently headed. For the time being, let’s proceed a little carefully from here.
